RTX 5000 Super: Nvidia graphics cards are now due to appear

For a long time it looked as if Nvidia would completely eliminate the Super variants of its RTX graphics cards from the current Blackwell generation. However, there are now voices who claim that cards with more memory will still be available.

Alleged return of the super models

The memory crisis is causing problems for manufacturers of gaming hardware. After Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo recently announced a price increase for its Switch 2. And PC hardware is also becoming more expensive and in some cases even being canceled. At the beginning of the year it seemed as if the super variants of Nvidia’s current Blackwell graphics cards would never see the light of day. But now it’s suddenly said that RTX cards can be expected again. The Super variants traditionally focus on significant memory expansions. The new models will rely on GDDR7 memory chips with three gigabytes of capacity each. This enables higher overall capacities without having to artificially limit the storage connection.

Like the leaker MEGAsizeGPU on X (via VideoCardz) reports that the super cards are “back on track”. It could therefore be published in the current year. However, there is no end in sight to the shortage of video memory, which makes Nvidia’s alleged change of course a surprise.

More memory for all classes

The top model of the new series is expected to be the RTX 5080 Super. The card should have 24 gigabytes of VRAM and 10,752 cores. The power consumption is estimated to be over 400 watts. In the middle class, the RTX 5070 Ti Super will probably appear with 24 gigabytes of video memory and a consumption of 350 watts. According to the current leak, a new addition to the portfolio is an RTX 5060 Super with 12 gigabytes of GDDR7 memory. Despite the reports from the rumor mill, there has been no official confirmation from Nvidia so far. There were no announcements at either the CES electronics trade fair or Computex. So it’s nothing more than a rumor. Due to the expensive memory components and the high demand in the AI segment, high prices for the cards would also be expected.
