Rumors indicate that Samsung’s exclusive access to the faster Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip has ended

The South Korean tech company Samsung deployed a Snapdragon processor in all of its Galaxy S series (Galaxy S23) phones for the first time in company history. This step received acknowledgment from industry experts as it introduced better battery life as well as performance to the flagship smartphones. However, the overclocked version of Snapdragon 8 gen 2 was exclusive to Galaxy S23 series smartphones but it seems to end soon.

Chinese smartphone companies could utilize the faster Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor

This information comes from Digital Chat Station, the Chinese tipster. The tipster mentions that the over-clocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor could no longer remain exclusive for the South Korean tech firm. In contrast, the chip could be available to several Chinese smartphone companies by the second half of 2023. However, the tipster has not shared the name of the companies but we can expect that it could be utilized by OnePlus, Redmagic, ASUS, and Xiaomi.

As per the information, the overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor provides a 5% improved CPU and a 5.7% increased GPU in contrast to the traditional Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Moreover, it offers a faster AI processing aspect. It was used by Samsung for the Galaxy S23 series which included three smartphones i.e., Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Due to these unique attributes, Galaxy S23 was excellent with single-core CPU performance and image processing.

For the next flagship Galaxy S series, the company is intending to use Exynos chips. Some rumors indicate that the Exynos 2400 will power the Galaxy S24 units. Whereas other members of the series could be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. It is rumored that the Exynos 2400 features a faster GPU and improved power efficiency.
