When it comes to wireless earbuds, Samsung is one of the most famous brands with its Galaxy Buds series. The company utilizes the well-known ‘Harman Curve’ for tuning its Galaxy Buds. In case you don’t know, the company owns Harman International. According to some recent pieces of information, the company is accessing patents from Knowles in an effort to strengthen Harman’s audio technology.
Knowles is a famous US-based audio firm. It is well-known for its audio drivers that are used in in-ear monitors (IEMs). Last year, in December, the company bought 107 audio-related patents from Knowles Electronics, reports TheElec. The US PTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) confirmed this news. In South Korea, Knowles has registered two patents. However, these two patents were not purchased by Samsung.
Reportedly, Samsung bought a patent for audio processing, noise cancellation, and noise suppression technologies. Numerous audio products, particularly wireless earphones, can have their audio performance enhanced by these technologies. Samsung’s Family Hub refrigerators already incorporate audio technologies developed by Knowles.
Roon is an audiophile-grade music streaming and management service. It was acquired by Harman International last year. Besides this, Harman owns JBL, AKG, and Infinity Audio. Slowly and gradually, Samsung has built a massive audio platform. The impact of these efforts will be evident in the form of improvements to the Galaxy Buds lineup in the future. The company will possibly use these technologies in its laptops, tablets, TVs, smartphones, and soundbars.
