Samsung adds Image Clipper feature to its Galaxy A series

Recently, the South Korean conglomerate introduced the Image Clipper feature to its gallery. Some fresh pieces of information suggest that the tech company is all set to introduce the feature to its mid-range smartphones. reportedly, the company has released the gallery feature to the Galaxy A53 5G via an April security update. The flagship models as well as the Galaxy S22 series and the latest foldable already have this feature.

What is Image Clipper and how does it work?

It is a new tool added to the Gallery app of Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones. it was initially introduced with the Galaxy S23 series. It enables users to drop out subjects from images. You can press and hold a subject while looking at a photo in the Gallery to quickly crop it out. The cropped image can be copied and pasted into other programs or saved as a separate file. Additionally, you may immediately share it on social media.

After introducing the new tool to the flagship Galaxy S23 series, the firm started rolling it out to older devices. So far, the Galaxy S22 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and other flagship models have received this feature. Besides the flagship and high-end models, Samsung has pushed the latest feature to low-cost flagships like the Galaxy S20 FE. Now the company is moving towards the mid-range smartphones. The Galaxy A53 5G will be the first in the series to receive the Image Clipper.

The new feature has been added with the April security update for the 2022 mid-range smartphone. The update is available with the firmware number A536BXXU5CWD1 in Europe. Soon other markets will receive the feature.

It’s important to note that certain US Galaxy A53 5G users have already received the April SMR (Security Maintenance Release). But Image Clipper was not presented with this update. With the May update, those users might gain this new functionality. Or perhaps Samsung will distribute a second April update there.

Besides this new feature, the April SMR consists of various vulnerability fixes. It includes more than 70 security patches.
