Samsung and Marvell Technology to work on a new SoC to improve 5G networks

Samsung Electronics is in partnership with Marvell Technology (US chip designer) and is working on a new System-on-a-Chip (SoC) that can improve the performance of 5G networks.

It’s said that the new 5G chip would be a big help to Samsung’s ‘Massive MIMO stations’, which is a multi-user MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) technology, providing uniformly good service to wireless terminals in high-mobility environments.

Samsung is aggressively working to expand its scope in the 5G network equipment market, especially since Huawei faced global sanctions. It is further said that the company will introduce the new chip in the market by the second quarter of 2021.

The new chipset is expected to improve power efficiency by 70% and support 4G and 5G simultaneously.

Samsung has also recently started working with Japan’s NTT Docomo, Canada’s SaskTel, and New Zealand’s Spark to supply 5G solutions.
