Samsung Focuses More On Exynos Based Smartphones In 2022

Samsung apparently wants to increase the proportion of its in-house SoCs in the smartphones and tablets of the Galaxy series in the coming months – at least for the more expensive models. This is made possible by the Samsung Exynos 2200, which is being developed in cooperation with AMD.

After the Korean publication, The Elec was able to give an outlook on Samsung’s range of mobile devices for the year 2022 based on internal documents last week, the same source added an overview today showing which platforms Samsung will use in its upcoming smartphones and Wants to use tablets.

More Exynos In Flagships

According to the report, the new Exynos SoCs, which Samsung is currently developing in cooperation with AMD as the graphics unit supplier, will be used in 20 different models. Specifically, they are planning to use the Exynos 2200 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 again in the Galaxy S22 series, although availability differs depending on the region. In Europe, the Exynos is installed, while the USA is served with the Qualcomm chip.

It is also noticeable that Samsung apparently wants to fully equip its Galaxy Tab S8 series with the new Exynos 2200 with AMD GPU. According to the report, all variants of the high-priced tablet series should come with the new Samsung chip, i.e. in addition to the Galaxy Tab S8, the Tab S8 Plus model, and the Tab S8 Ultra.

Qualcomm is once again supplying the processors for the majority of the smartphone models planned by Samsung. A total of 31 models should run with the chips from the US manufacturer. After Samsung itself, MediaTek is number 3 in the list of CPU suppliers of the Korean giant and supplies the platforms for 14 of the planned smartphones. In addition, there is also UniSOC, with the chips from the Chinese supplier only being installed in three of the smartphones planned by Samsung for 2022. These should only be low-end models.

Overall, the proportion of smartphones with Samsung’s own SoCs will apparently rise significantly in the coming year due to the Exynos 2200 and other models with less power for mid-range smartphones.
