Samsung Foldable Smartphones Set New Standards

Samsung Foldable smartphones

After the first information on the demand for Samsung’s latest high-end smartphones with foldable displays appeared a few days ago, the Koranic company has now given specific figures. Apparently, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 are extremely in demand and put the Galaxy S series in the shade.

As the Bloomberg reporter Sohee Kim quoted on Twitter, Samsung recently announced an enormous demand for the two new top smartphones with foldable screens. The interest in South Korea is enormous so that the number of pre-orders alone has exceeded the total sales of the previous models in 2021.

Almost a million pre-orders in South Korea alone

In total, there were 920,000 pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 in the period from August 17 to 23, 2021 in South Korea alone, according to the official information from Samsung. For example, the Galaxy Note 20 series was exceeded by 30 percent, and the Galaxy S21 series by as much as 80 percent.

Of the large number of pre-orders, around 70 percent were for the smaller Galaxy Z Flip3, which is sold in EU for a good 1000 euros. The rest of the pre-orders were of course for the Galaxy Z Fold3, which can be for 1799 euros. Samsung has not yet provided any official information for the international markets.

Harder To Meet Demand

Apparently, the demand is so high that Samsung has some difficulties in delivering the required quantities of the new top models with folding displays. Many customers have already received their new devices, but in various cases, you can hear from Germany, Scandinavia, and countries such as France and Great Britain that Samsung has to put some of the customers off.

The pre-ordered devices, therefore, do not arrive at the customer on time for the desired availability date but are in some cases not delivered until mid-September. In its email to the affected customers, Samsung also stated that the demand was unexpectedly high.
