Samsung Galaxy S21 Live Image Leaked: Confirms Design And Camera

Samsung will not officially present the new Galaxy S21 series for the first time until mid-January, but now the leaks for the upcoming series of high-end smartphones are gradually increasing. Today the first live image of Galaxy S21 appeared that not only shows the basic features of the camera equipment but also confirms the design which was previously speculated in the renders recently.

The YouTuber Sakitech published a photo on Twitter and on his video channel in which the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra can be seen side by side. The photo only shows the devices from behind, but confirms that Samsung wants to redesign the design of the camera module in a highly unconventional way.

The cover around the camera module is practically brought to the side of the housing edge and merges almost seamlessly into the frame of the smartphone. With the S21+, three cameras are arranged one above the other on the back, but the LED flash next to the collection of image sensors. With the S21 Ultra, there are four cameras in a much larger array with the flash also on the cover.

Samsung is back on cameras as a unique selling point

As far as the capabilities of the cameras are concerned, the Galaxy S21+ has two 12-megapixel sensors as the main and ultra-wide-angle camera and a telephoto camera with 64 megapixels. The same configuration should also be used in the Galaxy S21 base model, although the arrangement of the cameras is probably slightly different.

In the case of the Galaxy S21 Ultra, the sources speak of the main sensor with 108 megapixels of the Samsung HM3 type, which has phase detection autofocus. There is also an ultra-wide-angle camera with a Sony IMX563 sensor and 12-megapixel resolution as well as dual-phase detection autofocus on board.

There are also two zoom cameras, each with 3 and 10 times magnification, which each work with 10 megapixels and probably use the same Samsung camera sensor with a pixel edge length of 1.22 micrometers. At least the more powerful zoom sensor gets a periscope optic again to lengthen the distance between the sensor and the optics.

What is the photo looks like a fifth camera sensor located on the top right is supposed “only” the laser autofocus system installed in addition to the phase detection autofocus of the individual camera.
