Samsung Health: App receives huge update with many new features

Samsung Health is about to undergo a major transformation. With new AI functions and a significantly revised interface, smartwatch users should be able to evaluate their body data much better in the future.

Major update for wearables

Samsung is releasing a major update to its Health app on June 8, 2026. The upcoming update prepares the software for the upcoming Galaxy Watch 9. Users will soon receive a fundamentally revised user interface that translates complex biometric data into easy-to-understand recommendations for action. The primary goal is to proactively monitor your own body in everyday life.

The software originally started as a simple pedometer on the Galaxy S4 smartphone and developed over the years into a complex center for health data. The current update brings countless new functions and detailed improvements. Developers are now using artificial intelligence to refine the analysis of the collected body values. The system continually learns from the user’s daily input.

New functions and characteristics

In the future, the application will be divided into the five central areas of sleep, activity, nutrition, mindfulness and vital signs. An innovation is the Vitals function. The tool analyzes biological signals such as heart rate, heart rate variability, skin temperature and blood oxygen at night and compares the collected data with personal normal values. If there are significant deviations, the software warns of possible overload or an impending illness.

As Samsung announced in its newsroom, the new heart health score also replaces the previous measurement of vascular strain. The system combines metrics such as sleep, stress, activity and body composition into a daily key figure. For athletes, there is also the Daily Cardio Load function, which measures cardiovascular load and recommends training and rest times based on this. In the future, another module will monitor ambient noise to protect hearing.

Rumors about new hardware

With the restructuring, the group is reacting to competitors such as Whoop and Oura, who are shaping the current market. According to rumors, Samsung is planning to unveil its new generation of smartwatches in July 2026. Code for an unannounced chatbot was also discovered in the app. The digital helper could answer questions about the data collected directly on the screen of the new wearables. The advantage of the update is the clear data bundling.

One disadvantage is that many tools will probably only fully develop their functionality with the upcoming hardware. Older Galaxy Watch models probably do not support all new analyzes due to a lack of sensors. Nevertheless, owners of current watches also benefit from the tidy user interface and the greatly improved sleep evaluations.
