Samsung introduces the Samsung Message Guard with One UI 5.1

The One UI 5.1 updates from Samsung are not just some minor updates. Rather, it is a big jump. Since it is presented with plenty of new features and improvements in the already presented features. besides this, the latest update is presented with some improved cybersecurity measures. Samsung has introduced Samsung Message Guard in order to enhance security against cyberattacks.

As of now, the Samsung Message Guard feature is presented in the Galaxy S23 series. However, the company claims that in the future, the feature will be introduced to other Galaxy smartphones and tablets based on One UI 5.1 later this year.

Zero-click exploits

Zero-click exploit is the most recent cybersecurity threat. It has the capacity to permit an attacker to combine malicious code with a picture. Followed by this, the picture is sent on the smartphone. In this way, the device gets infected without even interacting with the image attachment or opening the message.

Well, no such threats or attacks have been reported with Galaxy smartphones and tablets. But still, the company wants to stay ahead in terms of security. Since the threats are evolving in their nature.

Confining threats into a sandbox before they can do any damage

Basically, Samsung Message Guard is a modern sandbox. The company has termed it “a kind of virtual quarantine.”  Through this technique, the images received on a device get trapped in a sandbox. In this way, they are separated from the rest of the device. The image is analyzed bit by bit in a controlled environment. Thus, it restricts the potentially malicious code from gaining access to files on your smartphone’s storage or interacting with the OS.

In addition to this, the company has referred to a report by Verizon i.e., the 2022 Data Breach Investigations Report. The company states that data breaches have become quite common in accordance with this report. Since the data depicts that such cases have tripled between 2013 and 2021. Beside zero-click exploits, the company has introduced the Knox platform to ensure the user’s safety. It prevents the threats posed via video and audio formats. Whereas Message Guard is the most recent mobile security measure introduced by Samsung.
