Samsung Likely To Launch Foldable Note Devices Next Year

Korean Mobile Giant Samsung electronics is setting a target to launch foldable phone in their Galaxy Note product line for the next year according to president mobile communications DJ Koh.

During the launch event of Galaxy Note 8 in South Korea, DJ Koh said, “We are in the process of overcoming the problems to put a foldable screen in the mobile phone”.

We will only launch the phone when its ready with what we have speculated, we are not selling only a couple of phones, we need to get it ready from technological aspects and for mass production so the people like the device they use, he added.

Last year, many reported that Samsung is interested in producing bendable screens and some manifested how the new Samsung screen could look like if they come in the market. Samsung was expected to showcase some bendable screens at the Mobile World Congress 2017 but nothing like that turned up at the event.

Koh said, they are very much interested in the foldable and bendable concept but it might take more time to put things together which could provide more meaningful innovation and ease of use.

According to Cnet, Samsung display, earlier this year showed off bendable OLED displays. Samsung Display is the partner of Samsung mobile for making displays for them, the company is already a leader in making OLED screens and supply displays to Apple as well.

Koh said that the company is looking for developer’s interest for Bixby and voice assistant at the coming event Samsung Developers Conference in US in October. The company is also planning to launch SDK at the same event to attract third parties.
