Samsung surpasses Apple in average 5G speeds in the US

According to a recent report by Ookla, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 by Samsung was presented with the best average download speed. In the US, the smartphone provided 147.25Mbps download speed on the 5G networks. However, the average upload speed of the device was 13.95Mbps, with a latency of 55ms. After Samsung, comes the smartphone Pixel 7 Pro. It offered an average download speed of 137.11Mbps. Furthermore, it presented 15.53Mbps of upload speed and a latency of 50ms.

Coming towards the smartphones by Apple. We know that Apple introduced the iPhone 14 series in Q4 of 2022. We will start with iPhone 14 Pro Max. the smartphone was presented with 133.84Mbps download speed, 15.39Mbps upload speed, and a latency of about 54ms. Where, the iPhone 14 Pro secured the fourth position and Galaxy S22 Ultra secured the fifth position in the ranking with a download speed of 124.83Mbps, upload speed of 12.6Mbps, and latency of around 57ms.

It is quite obvious that Samsung surpassed Apple in terms of best %g download speeds.  The 5G smartphones by Samsung presented a 79.3Mbps average download speed. Whereas Galaxy smartphones provided an average upload speed of 9.88Mbps and an average latency of 58ms. In contrast, the iPhones presented an average 5G download speed of 72.62Mbps. Where the average upload speed was around 8.69Mbps and the average latency stood at 59ms.

Besides smartphones, the chipset Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 was among the fastest chipsets. It presented an average download speed of 141.49Mbps. However, the Tensor G2 with the Samsung 5G modem presented an average download speed of 134.87Mbps and secured the second position. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the Snapdragon 888 secured fourth and fifth rank. One thing to notice here is that the Exynos chipset n not a part of this listing. Since Samsung doesn’t include the Exynos chipset in its high-end smartphones for the US market.

Concerning the cellular network, T-Mobile was among the fastest cellular networks in the US in Q4 2022. The T-Mobile network offered 216.56Mbps of download speed and 53ms of latency. On the other hand, Verizon secured the second position with 127.95Mbps of download speed and latency of around 54ms. AT&T secured the third rank with 83.59Mbps average download speed and 59ms latency.
