Spider-Verse Sequel Has Been Postponed

Spider-Man is one of the most famous Marvel heroes and his last cinema appearance was also extremely successful. However, for many fans, the best Spidey movie is an animated movie, and that’s Spider-Man: Into the Wild.
But the second part has unfortunately been postponed – and rightly so. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, as the film is originally called, is not just a movie for many fans, but a work of art. Because the adventure, which was released in 2018, offers a deluge of visuals that hardly any animated comic has offered before – at least not with such artistic and pop-cultural depth.

The joy was therefore great when it became known that Sony was working on a two-part sequel. And it was originally said that part 1 of the movie called Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released as early as October this year. But now many will be disappointed or have to content themselves with anticipation for an extended period of time.
Because Sony gave Twitter announced that the first film will be delayed for about eight months. Accordingly, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will hit theaters on June 2, 2023, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part II is currently scheduled for March 29, 2024. The film’s makers gave no specific reasons, author and producer Christopher Miller only wrote a tweet saying that more time was needed to make the films “great”.
The reasons can therefore only be speculated. However, the explanation is obvious, at least to anyone who has seen the first film: the elaborate animations undoubtedly involve enormous effort, each frame of the film is a small work of art in itself. Sony certainly wants to guarantee this quality in the sequels.
