Sports scores will now be displayed on the Threads app, beginning with NBA games

This week, Threads, Meta’s microblogging platform, will receive another update, this time, there’s exciting news for sports enthusiasts. Sports scores will soon be displayed on the Threads app, beginning with NBA games, as revealed by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Threads display NBA match results

In a post on X, Zuckerberg stated, “Live scores are coming to Threads. @NBA is up first, and we’ll add other leagues soon.” The scoring function is now being handed out to customers as part of a test, a business spokesperson informed 9to5Mac. Enhancing Threads as a better forum for people to discuss sports and their preferred team is the aim.

According to a press release from Meta, “basketball has become one of the most popular topics on the app, and NBA Threads has become one of the app’s most active sports communities.” You may look up sports scores before, during, or after a game using Threads Search. In the future, Threads will display scores for additional leagues, according to Meta. This is the precise operation of the feature:

  • Pre-game: Look up a game to find out when it starts within a day of it starting.
  • In the course of the match: To find out the score as it is now being played, search for a game.
  • Post-game: Look up a game to view the result one day after it concludes.
  • At any time: To access the discussion on a team, tap its logo. You can then interact with other fans of that team.

Fediverse among other things

A beta test of Threads’ fediverse integration was made available earlier this week. The term “federated universe,” or “fediverse,” refers to the concept that several social media platforms might be linked yet independent at the same time. There are currently only a few people who can utilize the integration. The Threads app is available for free download in the App Store. To enjoy the new features, make sure you have the most recent version of the app loaded.
