Telegram, one of the most secure messaging apps has launched one-on-one video calls on iOS and Android apps. The company made this announcement stating that 2020 had “highlighted the need for face-to-face communication.”
In order to start a video call, Telegram users need to click on the profile page of the person they want to connect with. During the call, users can switch video off or on at any time. Furthermore, the video call supports picture-in-picture mode. It would allow users to scroll through the app if the users lose their interest in the call.

According to Telegram post, “Our apps for Android and iOS have reproducible builds, so anyone can verify encryption and confirm that their app uses the exact same open-source code that we publish with each update.”
Back in April, Telegram made the announcement that it would launch group video calls later in 2020. Even though this isn’t exactly that, but in a recent statement Telegram said, “video calls will receive more features and improvements in future versions, as we work toward launching group video calls in the coming months.”
In April, Telegram’s monthly active users reached 400 million.
