Text formatting is being tested by WhatsApp on Android

According to some recent pieces of information, the Meta-owned WhatsApp is getting ready for a new feature. A feature named text formatting was spotted in the beta version of the Android app. Well, text formatting is not a new feature. It is available on several other services as well, like X, Google Keep, and others.

X has introduced the text formatting feature to its X Premium subscribers, whereas Google Keep recently debuted it. With the correct formatting tools, weight and emotions could be added to the text. Imagine that you are WhatsApp messaging a group of individuals about a crucial meeting. It’s not as effective to say “Don’t forget to bring your reports” as it is to say “Don’t forget to bring your reports.”

Text formatting might be arriving in the Android app

Currently, the feature is under testing, as reported by WABetaInfo. For this reason, the following information must be taken with a grain of salt, as this feature might never make its way to WhatsApp. It might not appear even if you install the latest beta version of the app. To use this feature, you must activate it.

The images shared by the sources indicate that there are various formatting tools that could be applied to text. One of the tools is the code block, which will make it convenient to share codes. In order to activate it, users are required to insert the text between two “`”. Start typing the text with a “*” or a “-“ to create a bulleted list.

Currently, there is no information on when this feature will arrive in the stable version of the app. However, it is clear that it will make texting much better. Given the fact that the feature is currently under testing, it might not take long to roll out.
