The creative classic makes its way back to the Switch & Switch 2

Nintendo has reissued a popular classic classic: from now on Mario Paint is available for the Nintendo Switch (2) – including mouse control. There is also good news for fans of the soundtrack.

Paint, encourage, compose

The original Mario Paint was published for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1992 and was unique at least on this platform. As the name suggests, Mario Paint is not a classic game, but a program for painting and coloring. Users were also able to create short animations and compose their own background music for them.

Nintendo even sold Mario Paint as a bundle with a real mouse. The mouse control is now also included in the new publication via Nintendo Switch Online. On the Switch 2, the Joy Con 2 can simply be used in mouse mode. Instead, users of the first switch have to connect a supported USB mouse to the console or the dock. The mouse speed can be adjusted in the game. As Nintendo shows in the (funny) trailer, various Easter Eggs and the mini game “Moskitojagd” (GNAT Attack) are also included. In this, players with a fly swatter have to hit different insects on the screen and can train the mouse control.

New storage options available, soundtrack available

At the original Mario Paint on the SNES, the storage options are heavily limited due to the limited capacities of the module. Here Nintendo has at least a little improved and now offers four storage points via the online service. Together with the publication, Nintendo also expands the music catalog in the Nintendo Music app. This now contains the complete soundtrack of the creative game with a total of 19 titles that come to a term of around 28 minutes.
