The Galaxy S23 series could utilize the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip

2022 proved to be a better year for Samsung fans who preferred Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips over the company’s flagships. Almost in all regions, the Galaxy S22 series was introduced with a Snapdragon chip with the exception of Europe. It is now expected that in 2023 Samsung could utilize a Snapdragon chip in the Galaxy S23 lineup. Despite the fact that an in-house processor by Samsung i.e., Exynos is under development.

Besides this, the Galaxy S23 series will equip an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. This narrative was validated by the appearance of the Galaxy S23 Ultra on the Geekbench benchmark website a few weeks ago. As of now, this chip has also been approved for the base model Galaxy S23.

When it comes to the benchmark scores of Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy S23, the scores for the latter are pretty low. It might be due to the fact that devices have not been finalized with the software yet. It might also be possible that non-Ultra models or only the Galaxy S23 regulate performance and thus keep the heating of the device under control. Since the smaller dimensions make it difficult for heat to dissipate in contrast to an Ultra model.

So, it is pretty evident that Samsung will utilize an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip on each Galaxy S23 model. The overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip holds the prime CPU [fastest core] capable of going up to 3.19 GHz. However, the benchmark listing featured the prime CPU clocked at 3.36GHz for the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Similar to the prime CPU, GPU is overclocked as well. It runs on 719 MHz instead of 680 MHz.

Given these facts and figures, we hope that the overclocked chip won’t impact the battery life. We have already witnessed the efficacy of Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 utilized on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. Now, we will see the efficiency of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 on the Galaxy S23 series.
