The Galaxy Watch 6 and Pixel Fold could benefit from Samsung’s improved 5nm technology

Samsung manufactures Google’s Tensor G2 SoC, which is used in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. It is based on Samsung’s 5nm technology. The same chipset is expected to be used for the Pixel Fold. However, a recent rumor contends that the Tensor G2 in the Pixel Fold would perform significantly better than the Tensor G2 in the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro. It is stated that Samsung has significantly improved the method it makes 5nm chips.

The recent piece of information was shared by Revegnus, a tipster on Twitter. As per this information, the company has introduced a major improvement to the 5nm semiconductor fabrication process. No exact details or information is shared by the tipster. However, he mentioned in a comment that Nodes are improved.

The recent improvements are meant to be beneficial for all chipsets manufactured on the 5nm fabrication process. The tipster approves that the Tensor G2 as well as the Exynos W920 will benefit from this improvement. Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 are powered by the Exynos W920. The tipster claims that the Galaxy Watch 6 will also utilize the Exynos W920.

The claims by @Tech_Reve have also been documented by DigiTimes. However, the information should be taken with a grain of salt. The 5nm fabrication tech of Smasung is inferior to the TSMC’s 5nm fabrication process. It is one of the possible causes of why the Tensor G2 and old Exynos chipsets presented overheating issues. We hope that the recent improvements will resolve all the previous issues. If this information is accurate, then improved battery life for the Galaxy Watch 6 series than its predecessor could be expected.
