The iOS 18.4 beta version can occasionally cause significant issues for users

Shortly after the release of the latest beta for iOS and Watchos, some users seem to have serious problems. So there are reports on ‘bricked’ devices. Apple has apparently withdrawn the update for some models.

New betas cause problems

Apple had released new beta software just two days ago. In addition to Visionos 2.4 and MacOS Sequoia 15.4, Watchos 11.4 and iOS 18.4 also existed new operating systems for the Apple Watch and the company’s iPhones. This means that the smartphones from Cupertino finally get Apple Intelligence in the EU. The functions with artificial intelligence are now also available in EU. Now there seems to be some problems with users who have installed the new betas on their devices. Apparently some models of the Apple Watch and the Apple iPhone are affected.

‘Bricked’ smartwatches

Like Apple expert Aaron Perris in one Post on X (via 9to5mac) reported, Apple has withdrawn Watchos 11.4 Beta for all of its Series 6 smartwatches. Accordingly, the new software is no longer available for owners of the following watches:

• Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS, 40mm)
• Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS, 44mm)
• Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS + Cellular, 40mm)
• Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS + Cellular, 44mm)

Previously there were reports from users Reddit whose smartwatches allegedly no longer worked after the update. Bootloops are also partly talking about. At the moment, however, it cannot be said whether this is the trigger for Apple’s backing.

Problems also with iPhones and iPads

Also on some devices that have received the iOS 18.4 beta since Friday, the plug is now being drawn in Cupertino. The distribution of the software for some iPhone 12 models and iPads is stopped. The following devices are affected in detail:

• iPhone 12 Pro
• iPhone 12 Pro Max
• iPhone 12 mini
• iPad 8 (cellular)
• Ipad Air 4 (Wi-Fi)
• iPad Air 4 (cellular)
• iPad Air 11-inch (M2) (cellular)
• iPad Air 13-inch (M2) (cellular)

What exactly the problem is remains unclear. However, there were apparently reports from users about bootloops. Accordingly, Apple is probably investigating the incidents. The new beta will probably not be available to the owners of the affected iPhones and iPads.
