For quite some time now, we know that Nintendo has been working on a successor for the Switch. According to reports, it might be named the Nintendo Switch 2. Some previous reports claimed that it would debut later in 2024 however, some fresh pieces of information suggest that it won’t arrive until next year. One thing to notice here is that there is no official word regarding the release schedule by the company.
According to several sources, the company informed game publishers that the upcoming console will arrive in Q1 2025. Given that the original Switch was initially shown in October 2016 but wasn’t released until March 2017, it’s plausible that Nintendo is simply following historical precedence in this instance.
There is a possibility that the company might opt for a similar approach for the launch of its next console. It might be announced by the end of this year whereas the official launch might take place next year. According to the rumors, Nintendo only recently told publishers that the console will launch in the first half of 2025.
Currently, there are not many details about the upcoming console. There is no official confirmation regarding the name of the console from the company. It might not be named the Switch 2. Some previous reports indicated that the console will feature an 8-inch LCD display. It is one inch larger than the original 7-inch display. However, it is reported to be inferior to the 7-inch OLED display of the Switch. We can expect an OLED version of Nintendo’s new console in the future.
