The New US Ban: No electronic devices to carry for travelers from the Middle East and North Africa

The New US Ban

The new US ban – If you’re planning to visit the USA (Trump’s GREATEST nation), you must not carry your laptops with you.

On Tuesday, Trump’s administration imposed a new restriction where travelers mainly from the Middle East and North Africa will not be allowed to bring electronic devices other than their smartphones. The Department of Homeland Security will now check if you’re carrying an electronic device larger than a cell phone.

This restriction is applicable mainly on travelers coming from Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Morocco, and Qatar. And the devices noted includes; tablets, portable DVD players, laptops, and cameras.

Trump Might Put Restrictions On Trading With China

The administration says that this new US ban has nothing to do with the early ban put on 6 Muslim-majority countries. They also said that this is a safety measure the government intends to impose as of rising threats.

The airlines which are more affected by this new restriction includes; Royal Jordanian Airlines, Egypt Air, Turkish Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Kuwait Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Qatar Airways, Emirates, and Etihad Airways.

Further, in their statement, the US administration said that this new restriction isn’t applicable on any American airline. There’s no American airline which flies directly from these nations to the USA. However, this applies to everyone flying from these airlines, even if they’re US citizens. Only the crew members are free from this ban.

Travel Ban: Tech Companies Are Backing Out

The Department of Homeland Security also briefed that approved medical electronic devices would be allowed to use. The administration also stated that this new US ban is imposed to fight against the potential threats from terrorists. According to their intelligence, terrorists plan to smuggle large explosives using these electronic devices.

The US government officials added,”Intelligence indicates that terrorist groups continue to target commercial aviation, to include smuggling explosive devices in various consumer items.”
