The official Twitter accounts of Apple, Musk, Bill Gates, and other hijacked by scammers

It has been learned that the official Twitter accounts of Apple, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and others were hijacked on Wednesday.

According to the details, the verified Twitter accounts were hijacked in a massive hack by the scammers trying to dupe people into sending cryptocurrency bitcoin.

The list of accounts commandeered grew rapidly to include Joe Biden, former US President Barack Obama, ride-hailing company Uber, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, bitcoin specialty firms, and many others.

The Chief Executive of the social media platform Jack Dorsey, in a tweet, said; “Tough day for us at Twitter.”

We all feel terrible this happened, Dorsey said adding that the company is diagnosing and will share everything it can when it has a more complete understanding of what exactly happened.

Later, the officials of the social media platform Twitter locked down the affected accounts quickly and removed the bogus tweets.

It is pertinent to mention here that Twitter barred the validated accounts, those with the blue checkmarks, from tweeting for about two hours while working on a fix. “Most of the Twitter accounts should be able to tweet again,” the Twitter support team said while sharing an update on the issue.

“As we continue working on a fix, this functionality may come and go. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible,” the support team said.
