The possible reason behind a flat display for the Galaxy S24 Ultra

We have been hearing a lot about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 series. In the midst of rumors, we learned that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will feature a flat display. Well, the Galaxy S24 Ultra won’t feature a curved display. Such a modification will give the upcoming flagship series a less premium look than its predecessors. You might be wondering what the possible reason behind such a move is. The company has not shared any details about this change. But an insider from the industry has some possible explanations.

As per the information provided by tipster Tech_Reve, the company is going to utilize M13 OLED displays for the upcoming Galaxy S24 series. In contrast to M12 panels, the new M13 OLED display panels offer improved power efficiency and picture quality. The company has been using the M12 display panels since the middle of 2022, beginning with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. However, the improvements come at a price.

Samsung would spend more money manufacturing curved M13 OLED panels than flat panels using the same technology. At the moment, the company requires a large number of new types of displays. For this reason, it would be more productive to manufacture flat panels instead of curved and flat panels. Such an approach will eliminate the chances of defects and increase yield rates. In this way, overall manufacturing costs will be reduced.

In simpler words, a flat display for the Galaxy S24 Ultra is a cost-cutting measure from the company. The company is abandoning the curved display option for its own good. Naturally, the company will have a fancy statement to make about this move when it formally introduces the Galaxy S24 series early in the following year. However, according to the most recent rumors, the Korean powerhouse might have preserved a curved display on the new Ultra. In addition to this, the company is upgrading the display of all members of the Galaxy S24 series.
