The South Korean conglomerate Samsung is working on a new pair of Galaxy Buds

Last month, the South Korean conglomerate introduced several new devices at its Unpacked event. However, a new pair of Galaxy Buds was not one of them. Since August 2022, the company has not added anything new to its TWS offerings. Reportedly, the tech firm is all set to add a new product to its audio product line.

As per the information provided by the Dutch publication GalaxyClub, the company is working on a new pair of Galaxy Buds. The reports suggest that the new earbuds will bear the model number SM-R400N. Besides this, there are no further details about the product. However, we can get some information from the model number. The new product doesn’t appear to fall into the Pro category.

It might be a mid-range product

In 2019, the company adopted the TWS branding for the earbuds and abandoned the Gear branding. In March 2019, Samsung debuted the first-gen Galaxy Buds. Later in February 2020, the company introduced the Galaxy Buds+. In August 2020, it unveiled the odd, bean-shaped Galaxy Buds Live. The Buds Live was never replaced, but in January 2021, Samsung introduced the Buds Pro.

Then, in August 2021, the company introduced the Galaxy Buds 2 as a follow-up to the original Buds introduced in 2019. In August 2022, Samsung launched the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. It was the 2nd-gen Pro model. From this perspective, the new buds could be a Galaxy Buds 3, Galaxy Buds 2+, Galaxy Buds 2 Live, Galaxy Buds Live+ or Live Pro, Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, or something entirely new, perhaps a Galaxy Buds FE.

The model number doesn’t suggest that it could be the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. According to the report, the model number SM-R5xx is used for pro models. It suggests the opposite for the current model of the buds. However, the company is finally working on a new pair of earbuds. In line with the previous release schedule, the new Buds could debut with the Galaxy S24 series in early 2024.
