TikTok Introduces the ‘Inappropriate or Unkind’ Comment Feature

With TikTok’s new commenting feature, users would not be able to send ‘inappropriate or unkind’ comments.

With this new feature, a warning message would be displayed before users could post a comment that might be “inappropriate or unkind.”

With this feature, the video-sharing app would achieve 2 goals: (1) ‘promote kindness’ on the service and (2) ‘Filter All Comments,’ so they appear if individually approved.

A pop-up message similar to this, “Would you like to reconsider posting this?” would appear if the app believes a comment might violate its community guidelines.

A similar feature has been seen on Instagram, the company rolled it out back in 2019, while Twitter is testing it, and a similar feature has been spotted on Facebook.

According to information, a user can enable the new Filter All Comments in the Comments filters menu, allowing users to filter spam and offensive comments or filter based on specific keywords. Once the feature is enabled, creators would have to approve individual comments before they appear under their videos manually.

TikTok also announced that it’s partnering with the Cyberbullying Research Center.
