[Update]: Gmail app is now equipped with ‘Confidential Mode’

Google has revamped its app called Gmail earlier this year, which added a handful of new features, including a ‘Confidential Mode’.

However, the Gmail’s Android app hasn’t equipped with all the new tools released by the company, but the ‘Confidential Mode’ rolled out for Android as well as for iOS.

To use the ‘Confidential Mode’, you do not need to update the Android app from play store or iOS app from the apple store, just go and compose the new email.

Step 1: Click the red button to compose a new email

Step 2: At the top right corner, click on the three dots button

Step 3: Click on the ‘Confidential Mode’ button to activate it

After selecting the Confidential Mode, the Gmail app will ask you to choose an expiration time. You can also set a passcode [optional] to open the specific email.

The newly launched Confidential Mode sends the emails that self-destruct after a given length of time, you can set an expiry date of one day, one week, one month, three months, and five years.

If the email receiver is a Gmail user, then these emails will appear in Gmail as normal as other messages. If the receiver is a non-Gmail user, the recipient will receive a link to open the email in a secure web portal.

You will always have an access to remove or alter the confidential setting before sending the message.
