Updates For iOS 16.1, iPadOS 16 & MacOS Ventura Around The Corner

Apple iOS

As part of the announcement of new iPad and iPad Pro models, Apple has confirmed the official release date for iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, and iOS 16.1. Accordingly, the three long-awaited software updates will be available for download on October 24, 2022.

The free updates for Mac, iPad, and iPhone operating systems are therefore only available a few days before the new Apple tablets are shipped. The company usually starts distribution in the late afternoon or early evening. While iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura bring fundamental innovations for their device classes, iOS 16.1 via 9to5Mac is the first major refinement since the introduction of iOS 16 in mid-September.

iOS 16.1: First major update

Compatible iPhones running iOS 16.1 will be able to control smart homes via the new Matter standard and display live activities (e.g. sporting events, orders, etc.) in real-time on their lock screen. There are also new ways to share photo galleries and charge the battery more efficiently. Apart from that, Apple is making it possible for the first time to delete the pre-installed wallet app if you don’t need it.

iPadOS 16:

In a preview for iPadOS 16, Apple also focuses on the optimized sharing functions for photos in the iCloud media library and also shows the other innovations that iOS 16 has already brought to the iPhone – only in large and with significantly more multi -Tasking and multi-window options. This includes the new Stage Manager, which is said to have caused delays in the delivery of iPadOS 16. With it, the iPad is mutating more and more into a Mac.

macOS Ventura: Sharing and collaboration

Last but not least, macOS Ventura will be released on October 24th without any additional hardware introductions. The new operating system for Apple’s laptops, desktop PCs, and all-in-ones uses an improved search, new functions for mailboxes, optimized quick actions (via Spotlight), and increased performance of the Safari browser. Features from iOS 16.1 and iPadOS 16 will also be integrated into Ventura, such as the Stage Manager.

As soon as Apple iPadOS 16, iOS 16.1, and macOS Ventura are distributed, we will inform you immediately and give you an overview of the innovations. Until then, you can find all the information about upcoming updates and device presentations, including videos and images, in our big Apple Special.
