What’s In iOS 16.2 a Detailed Overview

Apple has released a new software update for iPhone owners. The new iOS version 16.2 offers new functions and new apps and fixes a number of security vulnerabilities and problems that arose with notes, among other things.

iPhone users now get another feature update for iOS 16. After the publication of the release candidate, the release was already expected. Now Apple has flipped the switch. iPadOS 16.2 is also ready and can be downloaded by all users.

According to the release notes, the new iOS 16.2 version now brings the “Freeform” app that was introduced some time ago. It is for iPhone. iPad and Mac appeared. In addition to a few bug fixes and security-related changes, the other changes primarily include detailed improvements. We’ve included the release notes at the end of the post.

How to install iOS 16.2

The distribution takes place as an over-the-air update (OTA), depending on the user settings either at the preselected time or directly when available. You can also use iTunes with a PC for the update and connect your iOS device there. If you want to receive the update as quickly as possible and don’t want to wait for the automatic installation, you can search for the software update in the settings and install it directly. To do this, go to Settings>>General>>Software update.

The iOS update is displayed there, you can start the download and install it directly. This usually gives you the update faster than waiting for an update notification or choosing the automatic function.

The update is recommended for all users of iOS 16 due to security-related changes. In addition to the update for the iPhone, Apple also released iPadOS 16.2, iOS 15.7.2, iPadOS 15.7.2, as well as MacOS 11.7.2 and MacOS 12.6.2.

  • New settings enable background images and notifications to be hidden when the always-on display setting is enabled on iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max.
  • The Sleep widget allows you to view your current sleep data.
  • The Medication widget allows you to view reminders and quickly access your plan.

GameCenter

  • Game Center supports SharePlay for multiplayer games, so you can play alongside participants in a FaceTime call.
  • With the “Activity” widget you can see what friends are playing and their achievements in games right on the home screen.

Home

  • Improved reliability and performance when communicating between smart home accessories and Apple devices.

The update includes the following improvements and bug fixes:

  • Improved search in Messages allows you to search photos based on their content, e.g. B. a dog, a car, a person, or a text.
  • The IP address reloads and shows setting allows iCloud private relay users to temporarily turn off the service for a specific website in Safari.
  • Thanks to the participant pointers in Notes, you can see live what changes people are making in a shared note.
  • AirDrop will now automatically enable the “Contacts Only” option after 10 minutes to avoid unwanted requests to receive content.
  • Improved crash detection on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models.
  • Fixed an issue where some notes would not sync via iCloud after making changes.
