WhatsApp Adds Message Forwarding Limitation on iOS

WhatsApp has launched another update for the iOS devices. The recent update is regarding the message forwarding limitation on the iPhones.

The Facebook-owned—WhatsApp is bringing in new changes for controlling the spread of fake news through its platform. Earlier in July, WhatsApp shared its intentions regarding limiting the message forwarding, for making it harder for people to forward messages to larger groups. The decision came following the Indian authorities search for controlling the spread of rumours that led to violent incidents in the nation.

WhatsApp message forwarding feature is the tool which people could use for forwarding messages to each other without any authentication. The social messaging app has now limited the message forwarding to only five chats at one time and has also removed the quick forward button provided next to the media messages.

These features were recently tested in India where people forward more videos, messages and photos than anywhere else in the world.

The latest updates are brought to everyone using WhatsApp on their iPhones. It is pertinent to mention that these limitations would further be refined if the social messaging service believes there is a need to do so, however for the time being the users of WhatsApp on iPhone would be able to forward messages and media to just five chats not more than that.

Mark Zuckerberg—the CEO of Facebook said that the firm would be updating its attitude on fake news that spreads violence. He said that instead of trying to hide such posts on the app as it does with other false news, Facebook has plans of completely taking down such content from its platform.
