WhatsApp Delete Message Feature Is For All Chats: Updated

WhatsApp launched delete message feature about a year ago which was intended for all chats initially but later the company decided to launch it for group chats only. About two months earlier it was reported that WhatsApp delete message feature would only work for group chats and not the individual chats.

However, according to new details, the function should work with all chats.

Facebook recently released a new update for the beta version of the popular instant messenger. The update raises the version number of the app to 2.20.83. The download is possible as part of the Google Play Beta program. The current beta reveals new information about the automatic deletion of messages.

According to WABetainfo, the user can select the time after which the messages of a chat should be deleted automatically. As soon as the function has been activated, a clock appears next to the messages concerned.

The feature now also Available for individual chats

The first references to the new feature were found in beta version 2.19.275. Here it was indicated that the function called “Delete Messages” is mainly intended for single chats. At the end of December, the feature was to be found in connection with group chats. Now all references to the different chat types have been removed. The function could, therefore, be available for group chats as well as for individual chats.

The automatic delete function is still in development and can therefore not be tried out. When the feature will be integrated into a final WhatsApp version and herewith delivered to all users remains completely unclear at first. If there are no errors in the tests, the rollout should take place in the coming weeks or months.
