WhatsApp Group Video Calls Now Available for up to 8 People at Once

WhatsApp is now launching group video calling for up to 8 people. It is rolling out this update for both iOS and Android.  

On April 21st, WhatsApp increased group calling to eight people in its beta. Earlier it announced support for just 4 people.

Now WhatsApp has rolled out group voice and video calls for 8 people i.e. you and your seven contacts. This has been launched for the general public on both iOS and Android.

The iOS app release notes for version 2.20.50 has revealed that the group video and voice calls on WhatsApp now support up to 8 participants. All participants must be on the latest version of WhatsApp.

The visual improvements for iOS 13 users also include an updated message action menu.

Now the iOS update is available for the App Store. It would display an automatic update for most users. However, the latest version is not available on Android’s Google Play yet.

If you are an Android user, you will have to download WhatsApp 2.20.141 from the WhatsApp website for this update to work. Also, your contacts with whom you want to group video call should have the latest version of WhatsApp.
