Whatsapp is expected to see new features, says Zuckerberg

The F8 developer conference saw many announcements that are to hit the social network medium soon. Zuckerberg actually showed glimpses of what to expect from the companies that are owned by Facebook, this includes Instagram and Whatsapp.

First thing is that Whatsapp is about to get a group video calling feature which will make it possible for people to have face to face conversations with multiple people at once. Previously, video calling was an option available for two people but now it is anticipated to accommodate at least four people.

Video calling is one of the most popular features on Whatsapp and according to executives, people have used about 2 billion minutes of video calling on the app.

This feature, Zuckerberg said, is just the latest in the company’s aims to create “new ways for people to connect privately with close friends, groups, and businesses.” This comes after the widely talked about decision of Jan Koum to leave the company which Zuckerberg addressed as, “Jan has done an amazing job building WhatsApp,” Facebook’s CEO noted, calling Koum a “tireless advocate for privacy and encryption.”

The company also aims to offer support stickers in the months to come which it announced in a blog post. This means that third party developers will be able to offer stickers to communicate within the app. More shows that the latest version 2.18.51 for Apple features support for Instagram and Faceook video playback which integrates the texting app with other services.

The app also features new group administration function, which means that you can revoke the rights of other participants by selecting “Group Info” and then selecting “Dismiss as Admin”-this can be done if you are a group admin. And as you can in iOS messaging, you can now change a group’s subject, as well as its icon and description by navigating over to Group Info found in the “Group Settings.”
