The most common element that can be found on all social media platforms as well as messaging apps is Status updates. It is a great way to share updates and thoughts in the form of images, text, or videos. The feature received its initial recognition from Snapchat, which debuted it with the Stories feature. Later in 2017, Meta’s messaging app, WhatsApp, adopted it.
In the current version of the app, Status can be found under the Updates tab. The Update tab is available on the home screen of the app. It gives users access to status updates posted by users from their contact lists. In addition to this, users can also view the status by clicking on the profile picture of a user in the inbox, thus eliminating the requirement to scroll down the Status updates list.
According to some recent pieces of information, the company is testing a new feature for Status updates. The new feature is under testing. It is available in the beta version of the app. Until now, the profile icon within the WhatsApp conversations served as a back button. It is now going to change. Soon, users will be able to see the contact’s updates and stories by tapping the profile symbol within a chat.
The new feature is available with version 2.23.24.23 of the WhatsApp beta app. It will be rolled out to more beta users in the coming days. As soon as the company is done with testing, the feature will arrive in the stable version of the app. Currently, there are no details on when it will arrive. In addition to this, the company is working on features like improved group voice calls, the ability to hide IP addresses during calls, email verification, and others.
