WhatsApp latest beta update fixes a major bug with its new bottom navigation bar

A bottom navigation bar was being tested by WhatsApp for a couple of months. Last month, these bottom bars were widely rolled out to users on the beta channel. Although it was providing a great facility for one-handed use, this feature was getting frustrating as it was a hassle for users to swipe left or right to switch between tabs. WhatsApp is all set to resolve this issue with the release of its Android app.

This swipe-to-switch feature isn’t a part of Material Design 3 guidelines, which makes us understand why it wasn’t there in the first place. This issue regarding being unable to switch between tabs was an unintuitive change that was making navigation troublesome.

As per reports from WABetaInfo, users who are using the latest beta version, v2.23.13.9, can switch between tabs with a simple swipe. This enables them to swap between calls, chats, communities, and the status tab quite easily.

This change was implemented by the platform after getting several feedbacks from users on beta channels. This new update is implemented with the latest exception to Material 3 guidelines and will provide a better experience for users.

WhatsApp has introduced several changes since its recent beta release. Switches and buttons inside the app are available with rounded corners that fit perfectly with Google’s latest design recommendation. Applying this update gives the platform an advanced look that aligns perfectly with the revamped interface.

Both are server updates that are being widely rolled out by WhatsApp. These amendments will be available with the latest beta update. Although you must wait until it gets rolled out to beta testers. It seems like the company won’t take that long to roll out this update on public channels.
