A future update of WhatsApp will allow users to pin and unpin messages

WhatsApp is continually being improved by Meta. The business regularly uses beta releases released through the Google Play Beta Program to test new concepts. These releases provide users with an exclusive preview of potential future additions to the standard WhatsApp app.

The company has recently rolled out the WhatsApp beta version 2.23.13.11 through the Google Play Beta program. Reportedly, the beta version accompanies a new feature that enables the users to choose the time frame for pinned messages in chats and groups.  The new version accompanies three different options for auto unpinning of messages. These include the 24-hour, 7 days, and 30 days time frame.

What is the pin and unpin messages feature?

As evident from the words itself, the feature enables users to keep important messages on top of conversations. The messages will remain pinned until or unless they complete the due time duration or in another case they can also be manually removed. An interesting fact to note here is that the pinned messages can be unpinned even if a user has already set an auto-unpinning time frame.

As of now, there are no details about the official release of this feature. The feature is still under development. It might be rolled out soon to the public WhatsApp builds. Besides this new feature, the company is also working on some other features. WhatsApp developers have been attempting to reduce spam by enabling users to ban unknown callers. Earlier this week, the capability was made available through an app update. The app has just received several feature updates and enhancements, including a better media picker.
