WhatsApp might include email sign-ins, but still your phone number will be needed

To avoid this, the messaging service is striving to use your email address for account verification. According to WABetaInfo, this feature will be optional, and because it is still in development, there is little information on when and how it will work.

It can also be beneficial when attempting to set up WhatsApp on a new device but failing to receive the verification code due to server or network issues.
When you set up PIN protection for your account on WhatsApp, you can already select an email address. If you can’t remember your PIN, you can reset it using the connected email address.
