A new feature is being tested for WhatsApp on iOS. That has become apparent from a new beta version that was recently released. In the future, users will be able to find out who wrote at a glance. Like the blog WABetaInfo reports, the ex-Facebook group Meta is rolling out the function for beta testers. With the new function, the profile picture will be displayed next to the incoming message, so you can find out more quickly who has written to you. On iOS, the profile picture will appear next to the WhatsApp notification in the future.

WhatsApp update, but not for everyone

However, the feature will not be available to all users. For technical reasons, at least iOS version 15 is required. According to the report, the function is based on interfaces (APIs) that were only introduced with iOS 15. Compatibility for earlier iOS versions is therefore highly unlikely.
