WhatsApp Testing New Feature to Link Social Media Accounts

WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature that lets users link their social media accounts directly to their WhatsApp profiles. This update, spotted in the latest iOS beta version of the app (via WABetaInfo), could make integrating your favorite platforms even easier.

The feature introduces a new section in WhatsApp’s Account settings, where users can add links to their social media profiles. For now, Instagram is the only platform supported in the beta, but it’s expected that other Meta-owned apps like Facebook and Threads will be included when the feature officially launches.

Once linked, social media accounts will appear on a user’s WhatsApp profile, alongside existing details like their name, phone number, and “About” section. Privacy is still a priority—users will have control over who can view these links, using settings similar to those used for profile photos.

Notably, business accounts on WhatsApp already have the ability to display social media links after completing an authentication process. It’s likely that similar verification steps will be required for personal users before the feature becomes widely available. If WhatsApp follows its usual timeline for beta rollouts, we could see this update going live within weeks.
