WhatsApp Users Started a War on its 12th Anniversary

Today, WhatsApp marked its 12th anniversary. The company happily announced the day with the audience on Twitter but did not expect a war of words from its unhappy users.

In the tweet, the Facebook-owned communicating app claims that every single day, over two billion WhatsApp users send close to 100 billion messages every day. The statement came on WhatsApp’s 12th anniversary.

Even after having some backlashes with its users, the company is committed to maintaining privacy with end-to-end encryption.

It is pertinent to mention that recently there started a backlash between the company and its users when it announced that it could share user data across its other units such as Messenger and Facebook.

It is said that the shareable user data includes phone numbers, locations, user’s status, mobile being used, internet, and IP addresses.

In response to WhatsApp recent tweet about its 12th anniversary, people started a war or words with the company. Many claimed to already have left the app and moved on with an alternate.

Some also tweeted that end-to-end encryption does not mean privacy. Like Donald’s reply to WhatsApp:

It could be a good time to rethink of switching to other apps where privacy actually means “keeping it private”.
