Samsung Galaxy A82 First Renders Show Sliding Design

Samsung seems not only to be working on new mid-range and foldable smartphones but also to revive the slider mechanism after two years. The first images that are associated with the Galaxy A82 5G emerge from a new patent.

The Dutch colleagues at LetsGoDigital came across recently published Samsung documents in the database of the US Patent Office (USPTO), indicating a new slider smartphone. Describes an electronic device with a “front panel” that can be moved in two directions. The sketches contained therein show that this plate is the display of a smartphone, behind which the front and rear cameras and a front-facing loudspeaker are hidden.

Galaxy A series: Samsung could expand the upper middle class

The functionality of the first rendered images based on the patent, made by Sarang Sheth, is illustrated. They show an almost frameless screen, which reveals a dual camera for selfies and a triple camera on the back of the Android smartphone when the slider mechanism is used. It is not yet known whether the South Korean manufacturer will implement the patent. However, the rumour mill seems to have been talking for a long time about a possible Galaxy A82 5G that would be predestined for this concept.

The reason for this is its predecessor Galaxy A80, which was presented by Samsung in April 2019. The 6.7-inch smartphone is one of the few on the market that has a rotating slider camera that can be used as a main and selfie camera. The two-year-old smartphone is now only available in a handful of online shops for around 330 euros. In terms of time, a successor would fit in well, as Samsung may expand the A series with a new Galaxy A52 and A72 as early as the spring.
