WhatsApp Web is implementing a secret code to enhance security for locked chats

WhatsApp web is going to receive a new feature aimed at improving the privacy of the chats. Reportedly, the company is working on a secret code feature. As the name indicates the new feature works by securing chats with a code that gives access to locked chats. Recently, Web beta received Chat Lock feature that enable locking specific chats. With this de3velopemnt, the web platform of the app is becoming more private and secure.

Currently, the new feature is under development. It is expected to arrive in a future update. In order to access locked chats, users will be required to enter a secret code, according to WABetaInfo. The addition of an extra protection layer i.e., PIN ensures that sensitive chats remain private and secure. It offers an extra degree of security against unwanted access to private discussions, particularly in shared or public computer settings like cybercafés.

In case, if a user forgets to log out of any particular device, the locked chats remain inaccessible. Such a feature is quite helpful in shared work environments. The company aims to introduce this feature to all devices in an effort to improve security. We will get to know more about the release of this feature in the future.

Some previous reports suggest that the company is also working on a refurbished interface for web clients. It is assumed that the new design will offer a modern visual appeal to users. With this update, the dark theme has been improved with a carefully chosen color scheme, and tabs have been added for easier navigation. Besides this, the mobile version of the app is set to receive several new features like a file-sharing feature like the Android’s Quick Share and a refurbished status tab. Furthermore, rumors indicate that WhatsApp intends to allow cross-platform communications in order to abide by EU laws.
