WhatsApp will soon let you secure individual chats with your fingerprint

Many mobile brands like Android and iOS are offering different security areas on their devices. However, some apps require individual authentication for access, including biometric verifications. You can download various apps from the play store to add security to different apps on your phone. Although we can’t really predict how reliable these apps can be, As on WhatsApp, chats are considered quite private as it is used as a main messenger platform. In spite of this issue, Meta is planning to implement biometric verification with each chat on WhatsApp.

WhatsApp has always been quite concerned about privacy and security features, and with the addition of this latest feature, it will become even more secure. As per reports from WABetaInfo, the latest update of WhatsApp (v. 2.23.8.2) indicates the development of a new feature. This latest feature will allow its users to secure chats individually with a passcode or a fingerprint. However, for now only the passcode icon is visible. So, you need to set up a passcode if the fingerprint isn’t working for now.

Group chats are also able to be secured from their info section. Also, there’s a chance that all secured chats will be moved to a different section, separated from other chats. All these chats will be secured by a single authentication. However, these features weren’t clarified in the shared screenshot. But WABetaInfo will surely clear it up through FAQs in the circumstances of users forgetting their password.

Although we can’t really predict the whole scenario of these chats, We don’t know about the notifications of these chats, the media in this chat, or the number of chats that can be secured under this separate section. Although WhatsApp is quite a secure app in terms of security, that feature isn’t as great as it seems. Telegram has provided an app lock since 2018 for unlocking the application, but we can’t really predict why WhatsApp is focusing it on individual chats.

We will get further details as the feature keeps progressing towards release. Until then, we are dependent on other applications via the Play Store to keep our apps secure.
