WhatsApp Would Soon Stop Working on Some Phones

WhatsApp has informed that it would soon stop working on some of the older iPhones and Android smartphones.

The Facebook-owned application made this announcement through its blog post that it would soon be cutting down support from various smartphones in the span of next two years.

The blog post was captioned as the “Support for older operation systems”, mentioned that it would stop working on some of the systems on the 1^st of February 2020. These phones include iOS 7 and the older and Android Gingerbread versions 2.3.7 and older than that. But, it would discontinue supporting Nokia S40 by 31^st December 2018.

The users of these operating systems could no more make new WhatsApp accounts, however, would be able to use WhatsApp until the mentioned deadline. Also, the app could stop working at any time.

WhatsApp has made a list of some of the operating systems that are no more supporting the application. The list includes

• the Android versions older than 2.3.3,
• Nokia Symbian S60,
• iPhone 3GS/iOS 6,
• BlackBerry OS,
• BlackBerry 10, and
• Windows Phone 8.0 and older.

WhatsApp has given the recommendation that the users using older operating systems, should switch to the newer versions or to iOS 8+, Android 4.0+ and Windows Phone 8.1+. Once a user attains one of these new versions then simply install WhatsApp and verify the phone number on the new device.

This should be kept in mind that WhatsApp could be activated only with one phone number on one device at a time, as mentioned by WhatsApp.

It further informed that there is at present no option or whatsoever of transferring the chat history between the two platforms. However, there is this option of receiving the chat history via an email.
