According to some Reuters, Wi-Tribe has recently signed $15 million contract, developing strategic partnership with Huawei, for upgrading current LTE services it offers. The company is planning to provide advanced 4G services formally known as LTE-Advanced or LTE-A to five major cities of Pakistan covering Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad.
Advanced 4G system which satisfies requirements of ITU-R can be considered as LTE-A, This system is the initial step in developing 5G systems.
The company will launch testing phase first in their Islamabad before spreading across the cities. This is a major change in broadband market, as currently no advanced 4G services are offered by any company in Pakistan.
LTE-A is capable of sprouting unmatched speeds at 1 Gigabytes per second. Normal 4G can only deliver up to 300 Megabytes per second comparatively.
After testing the whole system Wi-Tribe has mentioned that they will provide speeds up to 100Mbps per connection. However, Wi-tribe will raise the speeds to 200Mbps by the end of 2018. And by the end of 2019, they are committed to deliver up to 400Mbps per connection.
