Windows 10 22H2: Microsoft gets ready for the big update

Microsoft is slowly but surely preparing to distribute the Windows 10 22H2 update. The Redmond-based company is currently offering an initial feature update, which will most likely unlock future features from the update expected in the fall. The currently available patch KB5015684 officially confirms the existence of Windows 10 22H2 and without hidden detours through the command prompt.

After installation, version 22H2 and the updated build 19045.xxxx will be displayed in the Windows specifications, among other things. So far, however, we have had to do without any new features, as it seems that this is only the so-called “enablement package” that is responsible for activating future functions.

No real benefits with the new patch

To get the feature update early, you can download both of them through the Windows Insider Program (via Windows Latest) to carry out. However, apart from a changed entry within the Windows 10 settings, there are still no significant benefits. However, the preparations indicate that any planned Windows 10 22H2 features can be activated later in the year at the touch of a button and without lengthy patch phases. Microsoft will likely include new features in future cumulative updates.

However, there are no official patch notes for Windows 10 version 22H2 yet. Instead of new features, the Redmond company can only focus on minor bug fixes and improvements related to operating system security. For example, the Windows 11 22H2 update is still in the spotlight, which can already be tried out with almost all new functions within the Release Preview channel.
