Windows 10 Optional Update Brings May Patch

Microsoft has released the preview of the next optional and non-security update for the latest Windows 10 version. It’s the preview for Patch Day in May – and there’s something new that Microsoft is working on.

Update KB5036979 for Windows 10 version 22H2

The changes are limited this time – there is only one feature marked as new in the KB5036979 update: With this update, the Windows team is starting to roll out account-related notifications for Microsoft accounts in Settings under “Home”.

In a revised display area for your own MS account, you can now add additional security steps to prevent you from being locked out of your account. The Windows team explains more about this in the blog post that appeared on the preview update. More about this in the release notes at the end of this article. We have translated the highlights for you.

In addition to the new Microsoft account settings, there are several bug fixes and improvements. Update KB5036979 is now available for Windows 10 users who have installed Windows 10 version 22H2 and are receiving the update from the Release Preview channel.

The build with the number 19045.4353 can now be obtained via the Windows Insider Updates. If you want, you can install the update manually and benefit from the changes in advance.
