Windows 10X To Launch In Fall But Insider Testing Is Still Pending

There is currently a lot of guesswork surrounding Microsoft’s Windows 10X plans. The new, slimmer user interface in Windows 10X is expected to usher in a new era. But the company is completely silent about what has become of the publication plans.

It has become far too quiet around Windows 10X. After the brilliant start of the presentation, not much has followed. Even the rumor mill is reluctant to deal with this really important topic. But now doubts arise and memories of other failed operating system variants are awakened. With the missing information about Windows 10X, it could soon be over. Because, as the WinCentral writes, Windows 10X should come onto the market in October 2020 together with the Windows 10 feature update 20H2 aka Version 2009. It is not clear where this date came from.

Work continues at full speed, only with a new focus

Accordingly, Microsoft continues to work on the update at full speed. Unlike the Windows 10 feature update 20H2, however, there is no Windows Insider channel that is currently accessible. There are also no statements about when or whether an insider test for the modular Windows 10X should come at all. That’s amazing because Windows 10 development is largely based on user feedback.

In April, Microsoft’s product manager Panos Panay announced internally that it had moved away from the original plans for Windows 10X and its own dual-screen devices, as the corona crisis was not one of the reasons why the schedule for the new hardware could not be kept. Windows 10X, it was then officially announced at least in May, should initially be available for devices with a display. Panay hadn’t said when that could be.

However, it was already clear that Windows 10X will be delivered with the first devices from third-party providers this year – but even here, this only applies to devices with a display.
