Windows Server fixes critical hyper-V problems with emergency update

The error in detail

Update KB5061906 brings the solution

Microsoft has with the cumulative Out-of-band update KB5061906 Reacts. This replaces all previous updates for Windows Server 2022 and should fix the problems. However, there is a catch: the update is not automatically installed and is not available via Windows Update.

Administrators must now become active themselves and the independent MSU package from the Download Microsoft update catalog. Microsoft recommends this manual installation, especially if the Windows security update from May 2025 (KB5058385) has not yet been recorded and/or the IT environment Windows Server 2022 devices with Hyper-V.

This non -safety -relevant update includes quality improvements. If you install this update:

• Hyper-V platform-resolved: A problem in the direct transmission path for a physical guest address (GPA), in which confidential virtual computers that are executed on Hyper-V with Windows Server 2022 are no longer reacted or restarted unexpectedly, which affects the availability and requires manual interventions. This problem primarily affects confidential Azure VMS.
• Maintenance stacked update for Windows Server 2022 (KB5058531): This update contains qualitative improvements at the maintenance stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. SSU (Servicing Stack Updates) ensure that you have a robust and reliable maintenance stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates.
