With One UI 6.1, you may use your phone as the webcam on your Galaxy tablet

Samsung launched One UI 6.1 with the Galaxy S24 series a few days ago. It introduces various new AI, camera, customization, and productivity capabilities. The latest version of One UI also enhances the interaction of Galaxy smartphones and tablets with other Galaxy ecosystem devices. A new function allows you to use your Galaxy smartphone’s camera as a webcam on your Galaxy tablet.

Camera Sharing functionality in One UI 6.1

The One UI 6.1 software includes a new function called Camera Sharing. You may discover it on your Galaxy S24 by going to Settings » Connected Devices. After turning on the Camera Sharing feature, you can utilize your phone’s camera as a webcam for a nearby Galaxy tablet. To use this function, both devices including your Galaxy smartphone and Galaxy tablet must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network and have the Bluetooth and Camera Sharing features enabled. This function lets you use a higher-quality camera, typically found on smartphones, as a webcam for video calls. This is ideal for someone who performs several video conferences or meetings. Better quality cameras on smartphones can provide more dynamic range, detail, and color accuracy than tablets’ front-facing cameras. It is unclear how effortlessly this feature works; therefore, we will defer judgement till we have thoroughly tested it.

The Camera Sharing feature differs from the ability to use your Galaxy smartphone’s camera as a webcam on a Windows-based PC or laptop. That feature is available through Microsoft’s Link to Windows integration. Samsung now lets you utilize your smartphone’s camera as a webcam on your Samsung smart TV.
